As you are aware, due to the school being in the unfortunate position of not being able to adequately cover classes, we have had to roster students home.
However, as Matamata College continues to have staff affected by COVID, we need to roster an additional year level home.
Therefore, tomorrow (Tuesday, 17 May) all Year 13s will be rostered home for distance learning as well as the Year 12s.
Please note, there is the expectation that students are involved in distance learning on the day.
Once again, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this situation may cause. However, as we are all aware, the health and safety of everyone is paramount.

It was great to see so many Matamata College teams in action over the weekend as our winter codes kicked off. We’ll attempt to get photos of as many teams as possible posted throughout the season.
On Saturday both our 1st and 2nd XV rugby teams faced tough matches at home. Our 2nd XV were defeated by the Hillcrest High School 1st XV. The boys worked hard and played some very good rugby. Our team are quite young and they will develop as the season progresses.
Our 1st XV squad were up against a quality Tauranga Boys’ College 1st XV. The Matamata boys were gutsy and committed throughout the match. They did not back away from the challenge provided by their opponents.
Well done to both our teams and congratulations to Hillcrest High School and Tauranga Boys’ College on their wins.
