1970-2000 (Staff)

2001 – 2018 (Part-time, Relief, Alumni Administrator)

I’m signing off from Matamata College for the very last time. My association with this place has been lengthy and I can’t image not walking up those front steps again.

As a pupil for five years I made many friends especially on the sports field. Tennis and Netball were what I lived for and what happened in the classroom was incidental.

From school I attended Auckland Secondary Teachers’ College completing a Commercial Teachers Diploma. After two years I came back to Matamata College to finish training as a PA Teacher. I never envisaged staying here, now 56 years later I walking out for the very last time.

My passion as a netballer and coach at school and at association and rep level kept me busy – those were the days I have very fond memories of. Seeing so many ex-netballers at the Centenary was very special.

After 23 years of coaching I decided to give golf “a go.” I think I was hooked from my first outing on the golf course and have spent many hours chasing that little white ball!

I seem to get involved in administration and have enjoyed that part of netball, tennis and golf. Currently I’m a selector for the Waikato Women’s team and also on both the local and Waikato Women’s Golf Committees.

As a player I’ve had a few highlights but generally I’m just an average hacker. As a member of the Waikato team winning the New Zealand Masters Teams Event in 2005 was special as were the three occasions I’ve won the local Senior Women’s Match play Champs – plus a couple of holes in one!

This position as Alumni Administrator has been very interesting and I’ve found out lots of great things that Matamata College Students have achieved. There are many more I have not been able to contact but I hope the next person will keep the Alumni alive.
