Kylie Lindsay
Kylie came to Matamata College from the Intermediate with a reputation as a top sportswoman. She and Nicola Browne vied for top honours in age group tennis in the Waikato region and at NZ level. Throughout her schooling she and Nicola continued their fierce rivalry on the tennis court. As the years progressed they both became interested in other sports and were both exceptional all-rounders. Kylie pursued squash and Nicola cricket. Both went on to gain NZ honours.
Not only was Kylie a top sportsperson she achieved to a high level in the classroom. Kylie gained a bursary and post school she has graduated with a Bachelor of Business Studies in Marketing and Sport Business Management from Massey University.
Kylie traded her excellent tennis skills for squash skills and that is where she has succeeded on the world stage. She became a professional squash player in 2006 and has reached a career high ranking of 32. Kylie has travelled the world playing in squash tournaments and over that time she has won four world tour titles. Two additional outstanding achievements have been her inclusion in the NZ Commonwealth Games Team – India 2010 and Manchester 2014. She has also played for New Zealand in the World Teams Championships in 2012 and is presently preparing for the World Team Champs this December (2014)
Her squash career has taken her all over the world – Australasia, Asia, Europe, America and the Middle East.
When not playing and training Kylie currently works as a Clinic Manager in a Sports Massage Clinic in the UK.
