Kaye Spence
Kaye was an exceptionally academic student who thrived on achievement at the highest level. Hence she gained an A Bursary and was Dux in 1980. At school Kaye says she did nothing of note (but lots of study). She took part in the school musicals and played hockey at a social level.
Post school Kaye excelled in science and marketing. She gained a BSc and then immediately started working in the Dairy Industry as a microbiologist. Later she changed direction and went into sales in Auckland for a Medical Equipment Company. At this stage she returned to Uni and gained a MBA as she wanted to get into marketing. She then worked for a small Fluid Milk Company in marketing and on to Unilever in a marketing role.
Kaye met her farmer husband and returned to Matamata. She took on a marketing role at Trigon packaging. Trigon was purchased by Sealed Air, a US based multinational. She now has a role looking after marketing for the Dairy Sector across Australia and New Zealand, still with Sealed Air.
She has travelled extensively with work, visiting France, Germany and Italy as well as the UK, South Africa, Philippines, Thailand and China, as well as the USA and lots of trips to Australia. These were fun and rewarding experiences with her colleagues from across many parts of the world.
Kaye is currently in her role with Sealed Air and is committed to adding value to the Dairy Industry through development and commercialisation of sustainable packaging initiatives.
Kaye is married with two children, both at Canterbury University.
