James Jobe

2006 to 2010

James doesn’t think he has done much in the short time since he left school.  Many (most) would say he has done and achieved ‘heaps’!

While at school he demonstrated a wide range of skills – academic, sporting and acting.  He was a young man with a vast array of talent.  In 2009 he was the school athletic champion, he played volleyball and he took part in anything and everything on stage.  James was part of the school Shakespeare group that performed and won the National Sheila Winn Competition.  From his performances he was chosen to travel to London and perform and train at the Globe Theatre.

After gaining NCEA Level 3 with Merit he attended Victoria University (Wellington) and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Media, Film and Art History.  He also has a Certificate in NZ Broadcasting from Whitireia Polytechnic.

Obviously his work history is limited – he has only been on the open market a short time.  James has been working at the Radio Network in Wellington and is also a Creative Writer.  He has managed a short stint travelling and exploring in his field in France and Italy.

James is an entertainer extraordinaire.  He has performed Stand-up Comedy in two International Comedy Festivals in Wellington – “On a Boat” and “Dan Shenton” and James Jobe in Setreo.  He has released a self-titled debut EP onto iTunes in September 2014 with the band Type II and has signed a 3 year record deal with independent record label Southern Collective.

His immediate aim is to put out a debut album with Type II early/mid next year (2015) and perform a solo show in the international comedy festival in 2015.  His ambition is to take his talents in music and/or comedy on to the overseas market.
