Ian Fenwick
Ian was both an academic and a sportsperson. As well as gaining SC, 6th Form Certificate, UE and Bursary, Ian enjoyed sport and was a member of the 1985 and 1986 1st XV rugby team.
Post school he qualified with a National Certificate in Business Studies, a Bachelor of Commerce and became a Chartered Accountant.
For 14 years Ian served in the Royal New Zealand Air Force including a six month secondment with the United Nations as a peacekeeper UNOSOM II (United Nations Operation in Somalia II) in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993 and also did a brief stint in Dili, East Timor.
Naturally Ian has travelled to many parts of the world – Australia, Canada, Singapore, Kenya, Somalia, East Timor, Rarotonga, Hong Kong, Bali and Vietnam to name but a few.
Ian returned to studying and in 2003 he graduated from Otago University. He is about to buy his first business in Palmerton North after 26 years of working for other people. Currently Ian is the Group Chief Financial Officer for Electra Limited – they own the power lines and substations in the Horowhenua Kapiti district.
Ian lives on the sunny Kapiti Coast at Paraparaumu Beach with his wife Megan and their three children – Harriet 6, Angus 5, James 2.
