Greg Muir

1971 to 1975

Greg was always going to be a high achiever.  He waltzed through secondary school, gained his HSC and then on to Otago University where he completed his BA in 1980 and MBA in 1982.

His personality and his qualifications took him very rapidly to the top in executive positions.  It wasn’t long before Greg became the CEO of the (Red Shed) Warehouse Group for a six-year stint before taking up the Executive Chairmanship of Pumpkin Patch from 2004 to 2010.

Currently Greg is CEO of the Tru-Test Ltd Group which is a New Zealand world leading manufacturer of electric fencing systems, milk metering and animal weighing systems.  It has expanded into Europe, as well as North America, Latin America, the UK, Australia and New Zealand.  Brazil is the next step on its international growth path.

Greg was named 2007 Executive of the Year in the Deloitte/Management magazine Top 200 Awards.

His organisational expertise saw Greg named Chairman of the Blues Super 15 Franchise in 2003.  A position he currently still holds. In 2008 he also took on the position of Chairman of Tourism New Zealand and still fills that role.

Greg was hooked on Rugby at school but commented that he was too small to make much of an impact!  He was a lighting expert in two school productions.

He believed Matamata College had high standards, quality teachers, taught him good values and he is proud to say he attended Matamata College!

Greg’s parents still reside in Matamata and his two sisters both became prominent lawyers.
