Doug Carter

Doug has had 50 years in Joinery and Cabinet Making business.  He completed his apprenticeship in Te Awamutu on leaving school.  Doug returned to Matamata and worked for C & M Mckenzie Ltd for a time.  During this period he joined the local volunteer fire brigade.  Doug shifted to Auckland and joined the Auckland Metropolitian Fire Brigade.  He worked for them for three years.  On his days off he worked for a Mt Wellington based Joinery Company.

During that time he met and married his wife from Northland.  They have been married for 43 years and have three daughters and nine grandchildren.

In 1975 Doug started his own business in the Joinery trade.  He is still trading after fifty years.  In total Doug did 28 year’s service with the Fire Brigade both as a professional and volunteer.

He enjoys fly fishing, hunting and sea fishing as well as travelling.  Also Doug currently serves his community as a St John Ambulance Officer.  He now enjoys time with his grandchildren watching then grow, develop, achieve and succeed.  Doug currently lives in Northland.
