Christopher Dawson (Chris)
Chris is a highly qualified Environmental Planning Consultant. At school he was a member of the International Committee and was Head Boy for the last term of 1984. He was also Proxime Accessit and gained an A Bursary in 1984. On leaving school Chris worked in the Kaimai Mamaku Forest Park for a year before going to Lincoln University for three years to gain a qualification as a Park Ranger. He worked as a Park Ranger at Shakespear Park, Whangaparaoa from 1989-1990.
At the end of 1990 Chris joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served a full-time two year mission in New Zealand. After the two year mission Chris returned to Waikato University to study town planning. In 1993 Chris married Kara and they have three children – Joshua (17), Matthew (15) and Hannah (9). Chris has recently served as a Lay Bishop in the Church for five and a half years (in his spare time)
Chris now works as a Senior Environmental Planner at Bloxam Burnett & Olliver, a small firm of Consultant Civil/Structural Engineers, Town Planners and Surveyors in Hamilton, a job he has held for 16 years. The work mainly involves infrastructure and town growth planning including state highways, windfarms, quarries, hydro dams and airports in Waikato and Bay of Plenty.
Any spare time Chris has he enjoys mountain biking, photography, tramping and of course spending time with his family.
