Charles Pollock
Charles started at the Intermediate when it was part of the College before it shifted across the field to its present location.
He was accredited UE and gained Higher SC in Form 7 before going work for the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and to study Accounting while working. He gained a Chartered Accountants qualification and has worked in this field for most of his working life.
At school Charles was a member of the 1st XI Hockey team coached by Peter Dibble.
Charles continued to work for Ag and Fish for 20 years. In 1992 her took a position with Warwick Fabrics for seven years then moved into the health sector. From 1999 to 2003 he was with the Counties Manukau District Health Board the currently is with Health Alliance. Health Alliance is a shared services company supporting the four Northern District Health Boards. His particular focus in Middlemore and CMDHB is as a Financial Accountant.
In his spare time he and his wife renovate houses. They are currently on the third one – not bad for a couple of Accountants he says! Charles has a great love of fishing and there is nothing quite as pleasing as being out the back of Rakino on a summer morning as the sun comes up over Waiheke!
When he decides on a retirement date they intend to move north as he is an adopted Northlander.
Sadly, Charles lost his first wife to the big C but he has since remarried a great Kamo lady. He has three boys and seven grandchildren all of whom live close by.
