Angela Power
Angela was Head Girl in 1987. As well as excelling in academic studies, gaining an A Bursary and UE in 1987, she was an extremely active person participating in a full range of sports and culture – tennis, netball, cross-country, athletics, Peer Support, Spirit of Adventure and was on the School Council, as well as her Head Girl responsibilities.
From school Angela gained a BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies) from Waikato University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from Massey. She spent 10 years in the corporate world in both Wellington and Auckland. From there Angela and her husband Aaron became self-employed business owners – along with raising four children.
She kept up with her sporting pursuits and has some amazing achievements. Angela has competed in triathlons, mountain biking, tramping and multi-sport. As modest as she is, Angela says she has completed “a few” Coast to Coast multi-sport races. Then of course was her participation in Dragon Boating – another sport in which Angela excelled, culminating in her representing New Zealand in this sport, travelling to regattas in Australia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. In the midst of leading a very active life she has managed to visit many overseas countries, spending time in Europe, Africa, America, Canada, Asia and the Pacific (in other words she’s visited most continents!)
Presently Angela spends much of her time volunteering, coaching and taxiing her kids to their many activities.
Her siblings Anthony and Mark and their families are involved in a construction business in Tauranga and Philip is running the home farm. Mum and Day (Joy and Bill) are still very busy and are involved in a variety of organisations in Matamata and they love to travel!
