Continued Volleyball success

After a great season from both the senior girls and junior boys, and a successful beach season, a majority of our college students have made it into Regional and national teams.

These players are in Waikato teams for the National Provincial Championships to be held in Wellington during Queen’s Birthday weekend.

GIRLS

Waikato Under 19 : Mila Gandeza (captain), Therese Ganas, Olivia Goodwin, Emma Morton-Farrelly and Te Aorere Wharawhara.

Waikato Under 17 : Mollie Allison (captain).

BOYS

Waikato Under 17 : Conor Goodwin, Ollie Morton-Farrelly.

National Selections:

A number of our players attended National selection camps in recent weeks. It’s fantastic to see Matamata College athletes performing at this level. Several players have earned selection in National Age Group squads.

NZ Junior Women’s Development Team : Te Aorere Wharawhara. The NZ team will be competing in the USA High Performance Championships in Florida in late July. Olivia Goodwin is a non-travelling reserve for the NZ team.

NZ Youth Men’s Development Team : Ollie Morton-Farrelly. This team is also competing at the USA High Performance Championships in Florida. Conor Goodwin is a non-travelling reserve for this team.

NZ Junior Women’s Beach Volleyball team : Olivia Goodwin and Mollie Allison : The girls will be travelling to Los Angeles in July to compete in events run by the California Beach Volleyball Association.

NZ Youth Men’s Beach Volleyball team : Conor Goodwin is in this squad and he will be playing in the California Beach Volleyball events in July.

NZ Youth Women’s Volleyball team : Ashlyn Lee is a non-travelling reserve for this squad which will be playing in the Australian Junior Volleyball Championships in Canberra in October.
